About Orangutans

Look up "Great Apes" and you'll find it's a family...our family! We share 96.4% of our DNA with orangutans, but we have pushed them to the edge of extinction. By supporting the Sumatran Orangutan Society’s Ape-ril campaign, you can help save them.

Deforestation is the greatest threat facing orangutans. Tearing down jungle for farmlands and roads destroys all manner of natural balances and is one of the biggest drivers of climate change. Orangutans need the forests to survive - and so do we.

ABOUT the sumatran orangutan society (SOS)

SOS has an incredible track record of designing, funding and delivering frontline conservation projects in Sumatra which really work, including community-led wildlife and habitat protection, orangutan rescue, and forest regeneration. With your support, we are backing the local people of Sumatra in their fight against the destruction of the unique rainforest ecosystem, a battle that can and must be won.

Please visit our main website to find out more about our projects and campaigns, and consider making a one-off or regular contribution and sharing our work with others, so that we can continue to protect Sumatran orangutans, their forests and their future.

Thank you.
